Dr. Olena (Lena) Moiseiykina

Dr. Moiseiykina completed her BSc degree at York University and her Doctor of Optometry degree at University of Waterloo, graduating with Honours. Upon graduation, she received the prestigious Dr. Karen Tompa Nowy Memorial Award for compassionate patient care. During her training, Dr. Moiseiykina gained extensive ocular disease and therapeutics experience in Canada and the US, including at the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Chicago. She also completed a post-graduate residency program in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and had become a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Upon her return to Canada, she has worked part-time as a clinical instructor at the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science as well as an examiner for Internationally Graduated Optometrist Evaluating Examination (IGOEE). Dr. Moiseiykina is a proud member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) and Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO).

When she is not working, Dr. Moiseiykina enjoys traveling and spending time with her young family. She is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian.

Dr. Karina Marcovitch

Dr. Marcovitch has been providing the midtown Toronto community with exceptional eye care for over a decade and is proud to establish Midtown Eye Care with her long-time colleague Dr. Lena Moiseiykina.

Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Marcovitch completed her undergraduate Biology BSc. at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and continued to Boston, Massachusetts to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. There, Dr. Marcovitch completed clinical internships at the University of Maryland Eye Center in Baltimore, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, and New England Eye Commonwealth. Dr. Marcovitch then completed a residency in Primary Care with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and was awarded Resident of the Year for outstanding contribution to clinical education. Dr. Marcovitch is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a proud member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) and Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO).

When not taking care of eyes, Dr. Marcovitch enjoys spending time with her young family, and pursuing outdoor activities such as running, cycling and camping.

Dr. Wendy Hatch

Dr. Hatch has worked as an optometrist and a researcher for over 25 years. She completed her Optometry degree and Master’s degree in Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. She is an Associate Professor and Chair of Quality Improvement in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto, and a Research Scientist at the Kensington Eye Institute. She is a member of the College of Optometrist’s Quality Assurance and Clinical Practice Committees. Her research interests include improving access to eye care, evolving treatments for keratoconus and dry eye, outcomes of cataract surgery, and biomarkers in retinal imaging. Dr. Hatch is delighted to be joining Dr Marcovitch and Dr Moiseiykina in providing patient- centred quality eye care in Midtown Toronto.

Dr. Anna Yu

Dr Anna Yu received her BScH degree in Biology at Queen’s University and graduated Honours with Distinction. She received her Master of Science degree at the University of Toronto with the Institute of Medical Science. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo and graduated with Honours. She completed her ocular disease rotation in Florida where she interned with a retina specialist, cataract surgeon, and an oculoplastics surgeon. Dr. Yu has been practicing since 2012 at various clinics focused on ocular disease and refractive surgery, and also has extensive experience co-managing patients with ophthalmologists. She is very excited and honoured to join this excellent team at Midtown Eye Care.
